One of the most valuable ways that we serve the reclaimed wood industry is through our yard of stock inventory. Our stock of hand hewn timbers and assortment of reclaimed boards and beams is supplied to us by demolition contractors from all over Canada. We stock in excess of 250,000 board feet at any one time. This stock includes a full selection of our Colonial grade Hand Hewn Beams, Grey Board, Brown Board and Red Board, 2" threshing floor and an assortment of Douglas Fir beams.

What sets us apart from other reclaimed yards? The answer to this question is simple - it is the way we process, handle and grade our material. The wood we receive comes to us straight from an old barn or building. It is dirty, often full of nails and has broken or split ends. Each and every board and timber is looked at individually. The timbers are washed, de-nailed, trimmed to length and graded as either a Colonial grade or set aside as a saw log. They are then tagged and put in stock. The boards are sorted to colour(Grey, Brown and Red), thickness and length and the ends trimmed before being put into stock. Our set of grading rules is a critical link in communicating with our customers.

Although we typically build orders based on our grading specifications, we can sort to your own requirements. We pride ourselves on meeting customer needs. If we don't have the product you are looking for we will do our best to source it via our extensive network of contacts in the reclaimed industry. This ability has resulted in our product being used in some of the most luxurious homes, restaurants and hotels in North America.

One of our newest products is something we call a Jacket Board. It is a hewn plank sawn from a hewn timber usually 2" to 3" thick. The application here would be a faux "timber look" where the Jacket Board is fastened to existing frame work and usually over top of the finished gypsum or plasterwork. It is meant to give the appearance of "Timber Frame" construction in a conventionally framed structure.

RELATED SERVICES

Our business goes beyond simply the supply of reclaimed wood. If one of our Kit Barns does not suit your requirements, we can custom cut a frame from reclaimed timbers. This option allows you more flexibility in the actual size and configuration of your desired building.

Our capability also extends to custom sawing as well as manufacturing of siding and flooring. We have six common species of reclaimed wood available to us for flooring. In the hardwoods we have elm, ash and beech. In softwood we have pine, hemlock and black spruce.

We would be happy to send you samples. We highly recommend a visit to our yard to see and feel the ambiance of originally hand-crafted wood from a by-gone era. Please call in advance to arrange a meeting or visit on Tuesday afternoons, the only day of the week that the reclaimed wood yard is open to the public.
